Communication is key...
Creating community is crucial in the differentiated classroom. My classroom and school have a strong community, and this community is strengthened when home-school communication is strong. This year, I created a blog for my classroom for the first time (Mrs. Sorenson's First Grade--click here to view). I have received a very enthusiastic response from families. They love seeing and reading about what's going on in the classroom. Many parents say that my blog posts allow them to dig deeper in their conversations at home with their child. Instead of "What did you do at school today?" parents can ask more specific questions, which often result in better answers.
