Since I began this unit with a sorting pre-assessment, it made sense to do the same thing at the end of the unit. Students were given items to sort into categories: "solid," "liquid," "mixture," and "not sure." I was pleased to see that most students could accurately sort the items and could easily defend their reasoning for how they sorted each item.
Choice in Assessment--Tapping into the Multiple Intelligences
I designed a post-unit assessment with several options from which students could choose, all of which were designed with the essential questions in mind. I came up with five different choices for students to show what they know based on some of Gardner's Multiple Intelligences.
